The Log infeed conveyor with one chain is used as a longitudinal transport and infeed of the logs in sawmill or in log yard sorter. It transports logs with length of 2 - 6 m and with smaller diameters. The design with only one chain is significantly cheaper than the one with two chains. Usually it is placed after a log feeder 104, after a step feeder 102 or after a log infeed conveyor with two chains 106.
The frame is massive made of sectional steel and burnts. One longitudinal chain with welded attachments is the constructional key of the conveyor. The attachments are made from steel with hardox skid plates or from steel combined with polyethylene PE1000. The logs are transported on the attachments, which move on the slides made from hardox or polyethylene. The type and size of the chain is determined by weight of the transported logs and by speed of the conveyor.
The infeed conveyor is driven by an electric motor with a sprocket. The tensioning of chains is secured mechanically or by a hydraulic cylinder. It all depends on the length of the conveyor or the customer´s requirement. A central lubrication system is very essential. The speed can be regulated by the frequency converter. The length of the conveyor varies from 6 to 200 m. The conveyor can be fitted with the frame for scanning. The scraper conveyor 403 for handling of fallen-off bark can be installed under the infeed conveyor. The following conveyor can be an infeed conveyor with one-side ejector 109, an infeed conveyor with two-sides ejector 110, a conveyor for metal detector 115, a conveyor in front of the debarker 116 or 117 or a log sorter 118.
