The Taper roller conveyor transports the logs in longitudinal direction into the sawmill or into the log yard sorting line.
It has three different applications:
A; Accelerating the logs during the change of the movement from cross to longitudinal direction. The taper rollers with its sharp edges or teeth transmit better the power needed for the direction change and they allow better acceleration of single log pieces.
B; During the cross-cutting of the long logs, the saw blade can run between the rollers.
C; For transport and ejecting of the long logs. The ejecting arms can be integrated between the rollers.
The taper roller conveyor usually follows after the log singulator 104 or step feeder 102. The constructional key of the conveyor are the taper rollers which are driven by drive chain and geared-motor. The shape and length of the rollers is designed according to the diameter of logs.
The frame is massive made of sectional steel and burnts supporting the long operational life of the conveyor. The speed can be regulated by the frequency converter. The length of the conveyor varies from 6 to 25 m. The following conveyor can be an infeed conveyor 107, 109, 110, a conveyor for metal detector 115, a conveyor in front of the debarker 116 or 117, a log sorter 118 or a cross chain conveyor 112.
