Belt conveyor is used to transport the timber from the band saw in the longitudinal direction. It is usually located in front of and also behind the band saw. The belt conveyor behind the band saw can be moved to the side by hydraulic cylinders.
The basis of the belt conveyor is the conveyor rubber belt which moves inside a steel-sheet channel. From the underside of the conveyor, the belt is guided by the return rollers. Drive and tensioning of the belt is provided by a drive and tensioning drum. The drive drum can be rubberized with forming to provide a slightly convex shape of the drum and thus better fit and guide the conveyor belt. A wiper blade is located at the return part of the belt and ensures its cleaning. Conveyors in front of and behind the band saw have a specially modified sidewall for better transport of the sanw-timber onto the conveyor.
The construction of the conveyor consists of steel cutouts and profiles. The drive drum is driven by an electric motor. Speed can be controlled via a frequency converter. Transmission power is determined by the speed and weight of the transported timber. The conveyor length is usually 3 to 8 meters with the belt width being 0.7-1.2 meters.
